I can easily say Dylan Baldi is an all-star on The Noise Is. The kid, barely in college, has put out excellent noise and lo-fi music from the bands Ponyta, Neon Tongues, and now Cloud Nothings. If you’ve heard and liked his others projects, this will be no different but don’t expect the same sound. Cloud Nothings play some delicate lo-fi, with an exceptional amount of pop thrown in, definitely the most pop from any of his bands. Everything about Turning On can be defined as catchy, from the bass hooks, to the fun guitar riffs, to the sing-along vocals. When Dylan sent this to me, he told me he was on his way to New York to play a show with Woods and Real Estate, and ended it with “How crazy is that?” I’m really happy for him and I cannot wait to hear how that show went. In the meantime, you can pick up Turning On on cassette and CD from Bridgetown Records, DO IT!
