Pat Carney really deserves a good pat (LOL) on the back for his Akron OH label, Audio Eagle Records. Despite being a very small label with five bands, they have managed to put out three excellent releases this year, Drummer’s Feel Good Together, Royal Bangs’ Let It Beep, and this one by Other Girls, Perfect Cities. This is the first release from this young Cleveland, OH band. They have been gaining a good reputation for their instantly catchy, yet meaningful songs. They have been heavily compared to Band of Horses and the Walkmen, but expect a warm Midwestern shoegaze element to these guys. Much of their life experiences reflect in their music, as one member is a full-time plumber, another expecting a baby, and another also expecting a baby and working a 50-hour carpenter schedule. Due to some of these complications, their lineup has been revamped, but I’m still planning on seeing them at Beachland Tavern on December 29th.
P.S. Speaking of Audio Eagle Records, Drummer’s incredible debut is currently being printed on vinyl. Thanks God I held out on buying the CD!
