Sticking with the recent trend of great opening tracks from pop albums being released in January, here’s the opener from Colorado husband/wife duo Tennis’ debut album Cape Dory. Following their two great 7″s from the summer, “Take Me Somewhere” is a cute indie pop still sticking with their sailing and salty breeze theme, and is the perfect complement to their cheesy yet mega-sexy album art above. Cape Dory will be out January 18th via Fat Possum.
Husband and wife, Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore, one day decided to leave their cold and rocky home of Denver, Colorado to sail up and down the Atlantic Coast for eight months. Sounds nice right? Well these are a few of the songs they wrote together while on that trip, and they all happen to sound like they stopped to swim in the sun three times a day! All clocking in around two and a half minutes, they’re perfect songs for that windows down, hair-blowing, sunglass-wearing ride in your car where your matters have all gone away. “South Carolina” is from their first released 7″ from Fire Talk Records, and those 300 copies sold out pretty fast. “Baltimore” and “Marathon” are both from an upcoming three-song 7″ from Underwater Peoples, which can still be ordered here (get on that y’all). Check below for a extreme summery video for second A-side track “Cape Dory.”
